HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
I love efficiency. I am a geek like that. I find that most of my clients need help in creating an efficient workflow across their digital devices to make their work day more efficient – and even more rewarding. Hardware and software application upgrades can make a huge difference but more likely there are huge efficiencies to be gained simply by changing the way you do things, such as syncing and networking your devices, utilizing cloud applications, etc. Or it may be as simple as accessing data through mobile devices or establishing a routine for backing up your computers. Together, we can find a better way of working.
EVENT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
I have been deeply involved in organizing the Minnesota Ironman Bicycle Ride for the past 5 years. This is Minnesota’s oldest, and second largest bicycle event/fundraiser, typically drawing around 5,000 cyclists and their families and well-wishers. It is a massive undertaking, taking a staff of two (one of which is myself), a volunteer organizing committee of 12, and a volunteer army of 300 people about 6 months to seamlessly pull off this one day bicycle event. This year is the 45th anniversary of the event.
On the other end of the spectrum, I host several smaller events at least once per month throughout the year. In many ways, the same principles apply to these events. There are many tricks to a good event, from how to appropriately plan, market and scale the preparations for your event, how to keep it fresh and interesting to keep your core audience returning year after year, how to attract new people, and how to keep it fun and gratifying and attractive to your volunteers.
I love a good event, especially if it involves biking.
